Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Infant and Child Photography

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is your price for a session?

A: There is no straight answer for this question as every session and situation is unique and different. There are many factors that go into a session including the number of adults and children, the location and what type of session is scheduled. Most sessions start at $150.00 but price is subject to change based on conditions.

Q: I want to have prints made from the DVD you gave me, where do I get that done?

A: I HIGHLY recommend www.mpix.com as they have as close to professional grade printing that you’re going to get from a non-professional lab at very reasonable costs, their turn around time is very quick. They offer a variety of different products as well as prints. You will have to pay a small fee for shipping, but it’s well worth the quality of the memories you’re putting on paper!

Q: Can I order professional grade prints from you?

A: Yes, I offer optional printing of images from your session. If you are interested in having prints made please let me know and I will set up a private, password protected gallery for you to view and order from.

Q: What should I wear for my session/What should I dress my child in for my session?

A: This is a tough question to answer and I can’t tell you what TO wear, but I can give you some suggestions.

  • If you have an outdoor session, avoid green as most of the background will be shades of green
  • Dress seasonally – Bright colors are popular for spring and summer and darker colors for fall.
  • Adults – avoid tank tops and spaghetti straps, 3/4 length sleeves usually work best.
  • Timeless outfits, such as jeans an polos are recommended.

More information and tips can be given based on your session type and location.

Q: What type of props do you have or will use for our session?

A: A lot of times I prefer to go “Prop-less”. 10 years from now I want you to look at your pictures and see your child, not the prop they are playing with. Certain circumstances, such as a 1st Birthday, a large prop will be used. Newborns will have cute hats or bows, but I try and stay away from anything else unless it’s specifically requested.

Q: Can I get my some of or all of the images from my session in Black & White?

A: YES! I am a big fan of black and white images. Please let me know prior to your session if you want a few mixed in.

Q: If I get my disk and there is an image that is in color that I want in black and white, can you do that?

A: I sure can! Just ask!

Q: You know the pictures that have some in black and white and some in color, can you do that?

A: I can, but I don’t. It’s called Selective coloring and it’s highly overused by many amateur photographers. I try and stay away from it unless it REALLY works on an image, which is very rare.

Q: Do you have any tips or tricks on how I can take better photos with my new camera?

A: I am currently offering classes on Basic Camera Functions and Photography, please see my blog for additional information. Private mentoring sessions are also available, you can contact me through email for more information.
