This blog has taken me a few days to put together. I’ve started, erased, started again, closed out, started again….and here I am, finally publishing (If you’re reading this, that is). Trying to gather all my thoughts and emotions has proven to be difficult.

It is with an extremely heavy heart, and an excessive amount of tears, that I have to announce the closing of my studio. As of right now, my last studio session is scheduled for September 15^th, I’ll be going out with a bang and one of my favorite types of sessions, smash cake, and then the doors to Jenn’s Photo will be closed permanently.

I’ve spent the last 5+ years building this business, learning, growing, watching and learning some more. I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it to get to where I am today, so having to close the doors is extremely difficult for me to do, but it’s something that has to be done. I feel like my business is just starting to take off and reach heights I’ve never imagined possible, which makes this all the more difficult.

As most of you know, we are expecting our 3^rd child in October. Right now, balancing work and home and kids is a challenge and a daily struggle to complete sessions on time, keep the house clean and spend as much time as possible with my children. Add a 3^rd baby to the mix and it’s going to be downright impossible. Not to mention our current home is not nearly big enough and the space that is my studio right now needs to be used for one of my children. (He is almost 13 and has offered to sleep on the couch so I don’t have to close my studio, isn’t he sweet!? :tear: ) With that being said, growing and teaching my family is what is most important to my husband and I so putting my business on the back burner is not only the most logical choice, but the best one for our family.

In the past 5 or so years I’ve met SO many incredible people and have made so many good friends along the way. I’ve watched so many babies grow from newborns to toddlers to children through my lens. I’ve watched families grow and teenagers start their journey into life and go off to college. It’s been an amazing experience and I have enjoyed each and every minute of it.

There are a few people I want to thank, personally, for helping me over the years and being there for me from start to finish:

Brandon & Emilly, Lisa & John – You both had your first children within a day of each other and both let me use your newborns as practice. My first 2 newborn sessions, ever, as well as my first 2 maternity sessions, ever. You’ve both come back to me over the years to have all your children’s milestones and holidays photographed by me. Thank you SO much for believing in me, giving me the opportunity to learn and grown and to watch your babies grow up into the amazing children that they’ve become! You are where it all started and I can’t thank you enough!!!!

Amanda & Scott - You let me second shoot your wedding in order to get some practice under my belt and learn the way of wedding photography. It was an amazing experience and one I will never forget. We’ve grown to be good friends since your wedding and I wouldn’t have it any other way! You’ve also let me practice my maternity shots when you got pregnant with your first child. We had so much fun at that session and I laugh, still, when I remember asking you to do a certain pose (pretend your in labor!!) and you cracked up. I also thank you for bringing Abi to me frequently and letting me test run things with her, as well, as I was learning and growing. It’s been amazing watching her grow up into the sassy little thing she is now! (And thank you, to Joe, for allowing me to second shoot their wedding with you!!)

Sarah – My nearest and dearest, my BFF! The list of things I have to Thank you for are endless, but most importantly, being there for me day after day, talking me through things and encouraging me to be the best that I can be! Helping me research things, find things I needed online, sending me emails with suggestions of things I should/could try and just being an amazing person all around! Letting me do you’re ‘Watch Me Grow’ series through your pregnancy was so special and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share in that special time with you! Not to mention letting me record all of Miss Olivia’s milestones!! I love you forever and ever!!

And last, most importantly:

Todd – My amazing husband. You’ve been here for it all. From the very start, the first words “I want to learn more” to “It’s the best option to close…”. You’ve given me so much support over the last 5+ years and have been a tremendous impact on my success. Helping me and watching me every step of the way. Building me a studio space, remodeling the studio space…twice…or so…building me props. Dealing with my hording and prop storage issues. Making sure you’re home on time so I can get to an on location session in time, watching the kids every weekend so I can shoot and edit and process. I don’t think I can truly express how extremely grateful I am for all the love and support you’ve given me through this journey. I love you more than you can even imagine!!

And to all of you who have come to me over the years for pictures, starting at bumps and bellies to newborns, infants children, families, seniors, each and every one of you have made a huge impact on not only my business but on my life as well. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart!!

It’s been such an incredible journey and one that will be with me forever!

Maddie came to see me for her 6 month pictures. I can’t believe it’s already been 4 months since I met her for the first time! She did super in my studio giving me smiles and great faces and sitting SO well!

Chace {Smash Cake} | Brooklyn Connecticut Children’s Photographer

Chase came to see me earlier this week for his 1st Birthday Smash Cake Session. Oooo what a doll this little guy was and he was all full of smiles and giggles during the session. He did great with the cake, tearing a good chunk of it apart before even tasting it but he got nice and messy and had tons of fun

Cutest Couple Contest Winners {Katie & Davie} | Dudley Massachusetts Family Photographer

Late last year I ran a Cutest Couples Contest where couples entered their photos and the public voted on who they thought was the cutest couple. The winner received a free session. Katie and Davie were the very lucky winners of the session and we’ve finally been able to get them in the schedule and get the session shot! They brought along their little guy, Ryder as well as their adorable dog, Revy, to include in a couple of the shots!

It was a gorgeous day at the park and they were fun to work with, little Ryder was in a great mood and gave me some fantastic smiles

Congrats again, Katie & Davie!

Marissa came to see me last week for some updated portraits. She wasn’t in the mood to give me very many smiles but it was quite okay, she’s adorable enough that she didn’t need to She did give me some great facial expressions and her eye contact with the camera was fabulous

Noah & Caleb {3 Years & 4 Months} | Webster Massachusetts Children’s Photographer

Ahhhh I love these little guys! Noah has been coming to see me since he was a newborn and now I have the pleasure of shooting both him AND his baby brother, Caleb!

They came to me for their 3 year and 4 month portraits. Such adorable little guys and they did so so well in my studio!!

I’ve been photographing Missy and her son, Devon, for a couple years now. She contacted me recently to have some pictures done with her sister and her family as well for their Mom for Mothers Day.

We met at Roseland Park last week. It was GORGEOUS out and the perfect evening for an outdoor shoot

Jill and her husband Joe came to see me last week for their maternity portraits, they are expecting their first bundle of joy in the next couple of weeks.

It was such a pleasure to work with Jill & Joe, such a super nice couple and I enjoyed chit chatting with them during our session!

Kellan {Smash Cake} | Webster Massachusetts Children’s Photographer

My 3rd and final smash cake this weekend was Mr. Kellan, he came in the studio in a great mood and hammed it up for the camera for a bit. He got right into the cake but lost interest fairly quickly, we were able to get him to go back over to grab a couple more shots to complete the set, in which time he got his hand covered in frosting and had fun playing with that!

Brad came to see me this past weekend for his 1st Birthday Smash Cake Session. He was a little shy at first but warmed up to me and chatted with me for a bit He played with the cake, crawling through it and everything, but didn’t eat much, more fun to play with than eat I guess!
